Spaces Available for Rental
Come experience the art of hospitality and the Vision of Excellence at the Charles H. Ellis III Banquet Hall & Conference Center, part of Greater Grace Temple (The City of David). Opened in 2002, the banquet hall and conference center is known for exceptional service, accommodations and atmosphere - including our one-of-a-kind signature beverage, Grace Island Sweet Tea.

The Cathedral Auditorium
A sacred and spacious setting with seating for up to 4,000 guests, ideal for large services, celebrations, and conferences.
The Banquet Hall
Perfect for receptions and gatherings, accommodating up to 500 guests with full banquet-style seating.
Meeting Spaces
Flexible and functional, with 20 rooms available to host groups of various sizes. Largest capacity includes up to 600 in conference or theater-style seating.
General Information & Policies
General Event Arrangements
30 Days Prior to the event: all final menu selections are due
14 Days (2 weeks) Prior: final guest count is due — guest decreases are not accepted after this point
7 Days Prior: all final balances are due; guest counts may increase if space is available
Final payment can be made with a cashier's check, credit card, or cash — personal checks are not accepted
Any changes made on the day of the event are subject to an additional $300 setup fee
Prices
The regular room service charge is waived for all events booked with the provision that full breakfast, lunch, reception, or dinner food service is ordered; in that case a catered fee is assessed. All food and beverage events are subject to a 15% service fee.
Payments
A $500.00 deposit and signed agreement is required to reserve the date.
All deposits are non-refundable and are applied to the balance; payments must be made in advance (no post-dated checks accepted for a deposit).
Full payment for all events is due 7 days prior to the event, and must be made with certified funds, cash, or credit card (no post-dated or personal checks).
Deposits & Cancellations
Deposits secure your event date and apply to the balance; all deposits and advance payments are non-refundable. Should your event cancel or a catered contract significantly decrease, liquidated damages apply based on this schedule:
From date of acceptance to 120 days prior: 50% of the contracted minimum revenue requirement
90 days prior: 75% of the contracted minimum revenue requirement
Within 4 to 30 days: 100% of the contracted minimum revenue requirement
Cancellations must be made in person or by letter signed by the client.
Service & Labor Charges
Service fee charges apply to all rooms used for meetings, exhibits, receptions, and wedding ceremonies booked through the events manager. All prices quoted are based on normal service time; if a function's end time exceeds the contracted end time, Greater Grace Temple reserves the right to add a charge of $75.00 per half hour to cover extra expenses.
Room Setup Charge
Extensive meeting room set-ups or elaborate staging may require a set-up charge to cover facility costs and additional labor. Once floor plans are approved and the room is set (which may be a couple of days before the event), a service fee is assessed to change the room set-up. These fees range from $250 to $1,500 based on the size of the meeting or banquet room.
Liability/Insurance
Greater Grace Temple is not liable for any material or equipment left in any room before, during, or following the event. Customers must send the events manager a Certificate of Liability Insurance naming Greater Grace Temple as additional insured prior to the function date.
Function Rooms
Greater Grace Temple reserves the right to inspect and monitor all functions, and to substitute or alternate function rooms should the projected attendance fall below the original estimate. Special negotiated packages are also subject to change when the original estimated attendance is below the projected attendance.
Guest Counts & Event Time
Minimum Guest Guarantee: 50 guests (guarantees under 50 are assessed an additional service fee)
Final Guest Count: Due 14 days prior to the event
Maximum Event Time: 5 hours (wedding & reception), 2 hours (wedding only), 4 hours (general events)
Menu Selection
Menu selections are requested 30 days prior to the event. Final guaranteed numbers must be submitted no later than 14 days prior; after this date, no decreases in guest count will be accepted. For events booked less than two weeks prior, menu selections and arrangements are requested at the time of booking. Greater Grace Temple prepares 5% in excess of the guarantee for standard banquet events (3% for events of 400–500 people). No food carry-outs are allowed for any event, and no alcoholic beverages are permitted.
Special Conditions
No food or beverages of any kind may be brought into the church by the client, guests, or invitees without special permission from Greater Grace Temple.
All food served must be prepared by Greater Grace Temple's culinary staff, and food may not be removed from the premises after it has been prepared and served.
Music
Greater Grace Temple must approve all entertainment and music. No dancing is permitted. Greater Grace Temple requests advance notice of any excessively loud noises or sound effects.
Smoking & Alcoholic Beverages
Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not allowed anywhere on the premises. Greater Grace Temple is a smoke-free and alcohol-free environment; violations are subject to a fine of $100.00 to $500.00.
Telephones
In-house telephones are not available for public use.
Audio-Visual
All sound, lighting, and audio-visual equipment provided by Greater Grace Temple must be operated by Greater Grace Temple's on-property audio-visual supplier. Greater Grace Temple must be notified in advance of any outside company or producer coming on property, and reserves the right to advance approval, restriction, or denial. Arrangements for audio/visual equipment rental can be made directly with the events manager.
Decoration & Vendor Regulations
Balloons are not permitted unless prior approval is given
Banners or displays may not be attached to any stationary wall, floor, or ceiling
Glitter, confetti, silly string, bubbles, and floor dust are not permitted
Vendors must set up during contracted times only; all decorations and rental items must be removed upon completion of the event
Please do not rearrange, move, or remove furniture or artwork - staff will set up tables and rooms to meet your event's needs
